UltraLapse & privacy

UltraLapse Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 25, 2026

Plain-language summaryUltraLapse is designed as a local camera utility. Camera frames, captured photos and videos, location used for the celestial AR guide, and motion-sensor data are processed on your device. UltraLapse does not upload your captured media or precise location to Vainakh Studios servers, and we do not sell personal data.

1. Who we are and what this policy covers

UltraLapse is a camera and time-lapse utility provided by Vainakh Studios Ltd. (“Vainakh Studios,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). This policy explains how UltraLapse accesses and uses device capabilities and data.

This policy applies specifically to UltraLapse. For other Vainakh Studios products, see our general Privacy Policy.

2. Camera access

UltraLapse uses the Camera permission to provide its live viewfinder and camera functions, including capturing RAW/DNG frames, JPEG image sequences, and time-lapse video. Camera frames and captured media are processed on your device.

Vainakh Studios does not remotely view, monitor, collect, or upload your camera feed, photographs, RAW files, or recorded video.

3. Media and storage access

UltraLapse uses Android media and storage functionality to create and save media produced by the app, including image sequences, RAW/DNG files, and time-lapse video. Files may be stored in standard device media locations such as DCIM or other app-designated media folders.

Where an Android version or a feature requires permission to read or manage photos or videos, that access is used only for user-requested functions such as playback, sequence review, grading, export, file management, or deletion. UltraLapse does not upload your media library to Vainakh Studios.

4. Location data and the celestial AR guide

When you use features that require local astronomical positioning, such as the augmented-reality sky guide, UltraLapse may access your device location to calculate local solar, lunar, Milky Way, and other celestial azimuth and elevation information.

These calculations are designed to occur on your device for the feature you are using. UltraLapse does not use your location for advertising, profiling, or analytics, and Vainakh Studios does not receive or maintain a server-side history of your precise location.

5. Motion and orientation sensors

UltraLapse may use device motion and orientation sensors, such as the gyroscope, accelerometer, or rotation-vector sensors, to align camera or augmented-reality overlays with the physical orientation of your device. Sensor readings are used for app functionality and are not uploaded to Vainakh Studios.

6. Data collection, advertising, analytics, and sharing

UltraLapse does not require a Vainakh Studios user account to use its core camera functions. As of the effective date of this policy, UltraLapse contains no Vainakh Studios advertising system and does not use your captured media, precise location, or sensor readings for advertising or behavioral profiling.

We do not sell personal data. We do not share your captured photos, videos, RAW files, precise location, or motion-sensor readings with advertisers or data brokers.

Your device operating system, Google Play, and other platform services may independently process technical, security, licensing, purchase, or diagnostic information under their own terms and privacy policies. Vainakh Studios does not receive your full payment-card information from Google Play.

7. Local processing and network transmission

UltraLapse is designed so that image capture, sequence processing, camera calculations, celestial calculations, and related camera-workflow data remain on the device unless you deliberately use an Android or third-party sharing/export feature to send a file elsewhere.

A user-initiated export or share is controlled by you and by the destination service you select. Once you send a file to another app or service, that recipient's privacy practices apply.

8. Retention and deletion

Because UltraLapse does not maintain a Vainakh Studios cloud account for its core camera functions, Vainakh Studios does not maintain a server-side archive of your captured media or precise location to delete.

Captured files remain on your device until you delete them using UltraLapse, Android's media/file tools, or another app with appropriate access. App settings and locally stored app data can be removed through UltraLapse where available, by clearing the app's storage in Android settings, or by uninstalling the app. Media saved outside the app's private storage may remain after uninstalling until you delete it.

If you contact us for support, we receive the information you choose to include in your message and may retain that correspondence as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain support records, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations.

9. Security

UltraLapse is designed to minimize transmission of sensitive camera and location data by processing these functions locally. You are responsible for the security of files stored on your device and for any copies you choose to export or share. No software or storage system can guarantee absolute security.

10. Children's privacy

UltraLapse is a general-purpose camera utility and is not designed to collect personal information from children. Because core camera, media, location, and sensor processing is designed to occur locally, Vainakh Studios does not knowingly create user profiles from that data.

11. Your choices and permissions

  • You can deny or revoke Camera, Location, or applicable Photos and Videos permissions through Android settings.
  • Some UltraLapse features will not function without the permission required for that feature.
  • You control whether captured files are kept, deleted, exported, or shared.
  • You can stop using the app and uninstall it at any time.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if UltraLapse features, data practices, platform requirements, or legal obligations change. The current version will be published at this URL with an updated effective date.
